Back in January I officially released my first WordPress plugin, Gloss. It’s a simple glossary management plugin. I worked on it for a few weeks after release and then let it go as my final semester of grad school got very busy. Today, I’m very happy to announce Gloss 0.5. In this version I made some small fixes and optimizations, as well as the ability to edit the name of an existing Glossary. But it’s with this release that I am also announcing Gloss 1.0, which will have some major updates, including:
- The ability to page glossaries by Letter
- Support for languages other than English
- The ability to link to terms
- Code refactoring and optimizations
You can look for that to be released late July/early August. If you have suggestions, or any code contributions, feel free to contact me. In the mean time, check out Gloss’s web page here, or the official WordPress page.

A couple of weeks ago, when I officially launched the redesign, I mentioned the forthcoming release of a plugin I wrote for the redesign. Random Code Generator is that plugin. I needed a plugin that generated a random promotional code and stored it in a database. I’m currently using it on this site to manage various promotions and ‘prizes’ I have going on, to make sure people can get a code, but cannot use it twice. Here is the official description:

After several months of design and development, I am proud to announce the launch of Burke Catholic High School’s new website. Burke first came to me back in November seeking a new, more interactive, easier to update website geared towards current students, parents, and prospective families. In development, I created the first iteration of Minerva CMS, a content management system powered by WordPress and geared towards high schools.

If you’re reading this in an RSS reader, you’re going to want to click through- Manifest Development has a new face! Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been working on a new website that accomplished a few specific goals: have a cleaner design that integrates the new logo, have a theme that is more general and easier to update, and be more blog friendly. I think I’ve managed to hit all of those goals.

Simplifying education by bringing technology into the classroom
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been very busy with a project I’m very excited about. A couple of friends and I heard about a business plan competition for students where funding was awarded to start a business in Northeastern PA (NEPA). We decided to enter and placed 3rd, receiving enough funding to start our business. It’s with great excitement that I introduced our company, Cognition Media.
